Immanuel Senior Housing repurposes the body of a 1922 church in Long Beach to create 24 one-bedroom apartments of affordable rental housing for seniors. Named after the church, the development preserves the building’s rich exterior façade while complementing the surrounding neighborhood. Many original features remain, including the stained-glass windows and historic pipe organ.

Amenities include secured entry, a fitness room, laundry facilities, and secure parking. Residents also have access to senior services such as adult education and health and wellness programs. The property was constructed to meet Build It Green’s Platinum GreenPoint Rated New Home Multifamily certification standards.

At the grand opening, former Long Beach Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal remarked, “The Immanuel Senior Housing development will be a great addition to the community and supports our goals of neighborhood revitalization. The rehabilitation of this building will provide a quality, affordable living space for seniors with limited income, while also helping to make our community safer and more attractive.”

Nearby attractions include the Long Beach Museum of Art, Long Beach City Beach, and Bixby Park, all within a mile of the apartments. Residents also have convenient access to supermarkets such as Ralphs, Smart & Final, and Olives Gourmet Grocer.
