Holt Family Apartments celebrates grand opening

With the opening of new supportive housing, Pomona is a step closer to ending homelessness

In April, Clifford Beers Housing hosted a grand opening event to celebrate the recent completion of the beautiful Holt Family Apartments in the City of Pomona. Nearly 150 low-income residents, including many families with children, were welcomed into the safety and comfort of the 50 brand new apartments.

At the opening, Mayor of Pomona Tim Sandoval emphasized that it is "critical that every community in Southern California step up" and called the apartments an "amazing project" that sets such an example. Holt resident Carolina Hermosillo, age 20, spoke passionately about the safety and stability her new home provides for her mother and three younger siblings. Also giving remarks were Congressional Representative Norma Torres, City Councilmember Elizabeth Ontiveros-Cole, Tri-City Mental Health Services Executive Director Toni Navarro, Fairplex CEO Miguel Santana, and Chris Ko, Director of Homeless Initiatives for the United Way of Greater Los Angeles. After the ribbon cutting ceremony, guests enjoyed a tour of the apartments and extensive grounds, including the viewing of an exhibition of artwork by Holt residents and other local artists.

Holt Family Apartments is an important part of the solution for the approximately 877 people experiencing homelessness in the City of Pomona (2017 count). CBH is incredibly thankful to the sponsors that made this grand opening possible: Wells Fargo Bank, The Corporation for Supportive Housing, Fairplex, and Primus Building Solutions.
