Holos Communities Board and Staff Hold DEI Equity Summit

Last month Holos Communities held our first DEI equity summit at Pepperdine University on May 22nd. Our board and staff worked together to review basics and principles around diversity, equity and inclusion through our work and workplace, including the difference between equality and equity, power structures and dominant culture, and the intersections between power and privilege.

The Holos board and team spent the second half of the day strategizing and developing organizational goals along three focus areas:

  • Building & Financing New Housing: How can we ensure that we continue to build homes for those that need it most, in an expedited manner and in areas affected most by policies like redlining?

  • Managing Existing Communities: How can we continue to serve our tenants effectively and engage the neighborhoods where our properties are located?

  • Holos as a Workplace & Board: How can we ensure that our tenant voices are represented throughout the work that Holos is doing, and that we’re ensuring our team is supported in an equitable manner?

Holos Communities is planning to release our annual report early next year, with our DEI-specific goals outlined as a part of the report.

Thanks again to Venture with Purpose for facilitating our equity summit and providing resources for the Holos team and board!
