Named for its location at the intersection of the 110 and 105 freeways, Isla Intersections opened in 2024. Located just north of Harbor Gateway at Broadway and Imperial Highway, the community offers 53 one-bedroom permanent supportive housing units. Holos Communities is proud that Isla was recognized with a 2021 Sustainability Award, honoring excellence in coordinating land use and transportation to enhance mobility, livability, prosperity, and sustainability.
Isla employs an innovative construction method using shipping containers strategically oriented to reduce noise and air pollution from the nearby freeways. At its center is the Annenberg Paseo, a public gathering space featuring a “living lung”—a carefully designed landscape of trees that filter and clean the air, irrigated by a greywater system. This landscape also helps to lessen noise and light pollution, creating a healthier environment for residents and the surrounding community.
The site is well-served by multiple Metro options, including the Green Line and bus routes 45 (Broadway/Imperial) and 81 (Figueroa/Imperial). For daily needs, Durango Market is a 6-minute walk away, offering fresh produce, local goods, and homemade food.
As part of Holos Communities’ Small Business Resiliency Program, Isla will also feature two commercial spaces designed to serve as a gateway between residents and the greater neighborhood. These spaces will be leased to local small businesses that provide services and amenities to meet community needs.
