Holos Communities and Target Team Up for Holiday Pop-Up At Avenida

Holos Communities partnered with Target on December 5th to bring to life the Holiday Pop-Up Shop at Avenida! This partnership brought Holos and Target together to create a shopping experience for tenants, where they received home goods and festive gifts for free to celebrate their first holiday season at Avenida.

The day started off with Target volunteers hearing from Angel Silva, our Director of Community Impact about the work that Holos has done at Avenida. As a Project Homekey site, Avenida is a special case in how to build housing faster than normal methods, meaning that the site could house people faster. Target volunteers also learned how tenants received wraparound services through the People Concern, the onsite service provider, to support them in their journey after being housed. Soon after volunteers started setting up the Pop-Up Shop, and at noon the tenants started to arrive!

Tenants had the chance to connect catch up with each other and celebrate their first holiday at Avenida since their move in date, with a majority of tenants who live at Avenida there to celebrate with the Holos team, Target volunteers and each other. The Holiday Pop-Up Shop brought together tenants with volunteers, and for the Target volunteers, making these connections with tenants served as a valuable experience as they heard firsthand from the tenants what Avenida meant to them in their journey towards a better life. The day ended with some words of appreciation for the Target volunteers from our Executive Director, Cristian Ahumada.

We appreciate the support from Target, who donated the goods that went to tenants and brought approximately 40 volunteers on site! Holos is excited to continue this partnership with Target, who has supported our work at Avenida prior to the site’s grand opening in July.
