Elm Avenue Apartments is a substantial rehabilitation of a 1926 apartment building in historic downtown Long Beach and was Holos Communities’ first project in the region. The development provides 16 studio apartments for households earning between 25 and 60 percent of the area median income.
The rehabilitation focused on restoring the building’s Tudor façade and wood casement windows, allowing it to complement the Craftsman-era homes and small apartment buildings of the surrounding Downtown Arts District. Sustainability was also a priority, with solar panels installed to help meet the building’s electricity needs.
Residents benefit from excellent access to supportive services focused on mental health, disability, and other needs. The property is well-served by public transportation, with the Blue Line just a 3-minute walk away and multiple LA Metro and Long Beach Transit bus stops nearby.
